ATL Rising. Again.

The story of an ever-changing destination: Signia by Hilton is Atlanta’s latest architectural marvel, reaching new heights and closing the ring of the downtown championship campus. This new jewel features a museum-quality art collection with pieces referencing the City in the Trees. To commemorate this moment, the history of Atlanta, and celebrate the achievements of Georgia World Congress Center (GWCC), Copeland designed a special-edition case-bound book to tell this uniquely Atlanta story.

The Concept

For the past 50 years, Atlanta’s development has dominated, and GWCC’s championship campus has made the City too Busy to Hate an unbeatable opponent for sports and entertainment. To cement, literally, Signia’s position on this campus, the book’s design uses dimensional chiseled-in-stone typography throughout and a debossed leatherette cover, creating a monumental gift for Signia.

The Artwork

Six pieces from the hotel collection’s artists are featured at the beginning of each chapter, and six more custom typographic designs have been created to tell this story using colors from Signia’s brand identity and motifs from the decades of each chapter.

The Finishings

Foldouts, high-gloss and soft-touch coatings, clear printed foils, and vellum overlays all work to create a beautiful and engaging multi-sensory experience.

The Story, Written by George Hirthler

The story of the development of downtown Atlanta is a complex one, and the Capital of the South has persevered, combining southern hospitality and urban charm in a uniquely Atlanta way. From the Civil Rights Movement to the 1996 Olympics, “the destiny of Atlanta’s unique brand of Southern hospitality was always headed toward the intersection of art, culture, and community embodied in the Signia.”
